Marc Gasol has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee stemming from an incident in Sunday night's loss to the New Orleans Hornets. The Spaniard was originally thought to have hyper-extended his knee but a MRI exam later revealed the bone bruise. Gasol crashed to the floor after scoring a layup midway through the final quarter while Hornets guard Xavier Henry was called for a blocking foul. The 7-footer remained on the floor for several minutes before Zach Randolph and Hamed Haddadi helped him to his feet. He went to the bench for the timeout, and returned to attempt the free throw before leaving the game. The injury comes just as another Grizzlie, Zac Randolph, is finally rounding himself into some form as the playoffs draw nearer. Gasol is doubtful for tomorrow's game against the Timberwolves and is currently listed as day-to-day. |
